If you are in a domain environment, you may want to try to add your username as part of the local admin group on the remote machine and use Windows 7 built-in shutdown command to do the remote shutdown. This utility does not work in Domain environment. Instructions can be found on technet. This tool does work on Win7.

This will start the Remote Shutdown utility in a separate window.

You can find the Terminal in the Utilities folder in your Applications directory. Once you're connected via SSH, you can use the same following commands.
