It's a blue icon with an orange-and-white "Play" button on it. Windows Media Player will open. If you don't see Windows Media Player in the search results, it isn't installed on your computer and you won't be able to use WMP on your current computer.

Find the Output tab where you can set the location and format of the screenshot image. Open the video in Windows Media Player and navigate the image that you want to capture, and select Screen Capture in the main interface. Then, you will see a cross-arrow will appear. Just left-click to select the capture area or hover your mouse over the window to capture the window. In the end, click the Save icon to save your screenshots on your computer. Another approach for you to screenshot in Windows Media Player more accurately is to configure the settings of Windows Media Player. And you need to make sure the options under Legacy video renderer are checked.

After making sure all of the options are properly set, click Ok to close the window. Then go to File menu, choose Save As and save the still image to your hard drive. Or you can find Options in Tools on menu bar. Step 2 Go to the Performance tab on the popup dialog and click the Advanced button.

Make sure to check Use video mixing render and uncheck Use overlays. Click OK and then hit Apply. Note: For old versions of WMP, if you do not disable the overlays, you can get nothing but a black image when taking screenshots. It may be a bit complex to capture still image from video in various versions of Windows Media Player.

However, you need to unhide it by enabling Advanced Controls in View menu. Then you will get a camera icon on the extra toolbar. It can capture still images from video. The answer is varied depending on how you take screenshots. If you press Print Screen key alone, the screenshot will be saved in clipboard.
