I am having the same problem. If its the old BF then its likely the driver There is a beta driver out, not sure if it will help. Straight away from re-installing BF2 on the new machine I am receiving frequent CTD's and can only think its that driver too. Is there anything I can do? BTW, it looks like the Beta driver is no longer listed. BF3 wont have these problems.. Same problem here since installing I rolled back to It worked for me I am having the exact same issue and I know at least two other clan members that are as well!
We have all started with brand new installs and all have different versions of top end graphics cards with mine running in sli.
None of us have had any problems at all ever before either downloading the new driver or the BF3 Beta! It is infuriating when we play so much BF2 and have done for years and years to find this problem so late in the day!
Does anyone at Nvidia have any clues about the CTD issues that are plaguing our systems daily? I can no longer play BF2 with my friends as I have been able to do for the last 3 years!!!!! Please come up with a solution!!!! In the past, my stability issue was resolved by rolling back to the This worked fine for my GTX.
I recently purchased a Ti specificly for BF3, and installed the corresponding new drivers. You know Ive recently developed a problem where my gun sound wouldnt occur and if I pressed escape it would crash, minimizing sometimes fixes my issue.
If I didnt minimize or it didnt fix it , after about 30 minutes of playing the world would just disappear into a black nothingness and then return to being stable. Very curious. As for your problem, that does happen to me and probably a lot of other people as well. My solution is restart your computer, try joining a different server, or clear the cache so it rebuilds the shaders and such not in that order.
Iv heard that its the 1. Robbie Man , Aug 7, Try unchecking the ingame box in properties. Unplug any usb devices' such as an xbox controller. OOps I meant ingame overlay. Thanks for your reply, I tried all those things but it still won't start, still just a black screen and then a crash. Its windows explorer for some reason it does this with some older games this fix works for other games with a similar problem.
Just use task manager to close explorer when you start to play the game, copy the link for bf2 before you close explorer or you will have no hope finding it. I have the same problem too! I played it in the past, now it won't work. I spent literally hours with them, until they came with this stupid solution that won't change a thing - since nothing worked and my comp never changed from the time when this game worked : Thank you for getting back to us with the requested information.
I've gone through the DXDiag provided by you. I'm very sorry to say that Battlefield 2 doesn't work with Windows 7 32 Bit.
It works well with Windows XP. Thus you can try running the game in compatibility mode. Please perform the following steps to run the game in -Please locate the executable file for the game you would like to run. This can be found by right clicking on the shortcut and choosing Open File Location. Or you can try and do the following.
Suspect Virus or other Malware programs effecting files The solution for this is obvious. Get your favorite Anti-Virus or Malware software, update the definitions and do a full scan from Safe Mode. You can get to Safe Mode by pressing F8 leisurely during the initial boot up of Windows. Check on the option to, "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" Then click Start and let it run through it's entire scan. For other alternatives not using the built in Windows application tool then you can go to this website HERE.
I do not know about any of the software on that site so do a second check on your hard drive on your own. If you have gotten to this level then you are at the point where I finally was at after doing everything above. Don't despair as this step actually fixed my problem. First you will have to download the memtest You can get that application from the following website: Memtest You will then boot from this media and it will auto start the memtest86 application.
Make sure you let it run so it has gone through at least 2 passes on your memory. If it finds an error or hangs for a long time minimum 10 minutes on the exact same thing testing one part of it then you may have an issue with your memory. To find out which memory stick is bad or if a DIMM slot on your motherboard is bad you will have to do a few things. Make sure you have a can compressed air to blow out any dust particles.
Do not do this in a dirty environment and make certain you have discharged any static electricity you have by touching something grounded. Take out all your memory and then use the compressed air to blow out the DIMM slots.
Then test each stick individually by placing one stick in the first DIMM slot. Then replug in your PC and run the memtest86 again. Do at least two passes on each memory stick making certain you do the power discharge I put in caps above each time.
Once you have tested all your memory in this way and if each one passes the test then you have eliminated memory as an issue and must then test out the DIMM slots on your motherboard. First plug in the first two memory slots. Most motherboards have dual channel memory and so you will have to test slot 1 and 3 or slot 1 and 2 depending on your motherboard. You must read the documentation on your motherboard to know which ones are dual channel.
If the first two slots pass the memtest86 then you plug in the 3rd slot. Run the test again.
