If you run a 64bit system and want the lastst firefox. Post by secipolla » That may be wiser but I think the bit Firefox works fine in a bit system.
If it gives an error of missing libs then one would just need to install that. Someone using Fedora needed to install libxt6 for it to work comes as a dependency of mozilla-plugin-vlc so if one has this package then there's no need to install the lib.
Post by stevepusser » Yes, the bit version needs ialibs and ialibs-gtk on a 64 bit system, and you must make sure to install and point it to use the bit version of Flash. This browser is based on the Firefox source-code, with minor modifications. Historically, this browser was previously known as Firebird and Phoenix.
Not for support questions! Post by lemoicavalier » Why this HowTo? I can think of many reasons as to why anyone would want to install Firefox from binary source instead of using Debian's Iceweasel Maybe a website actually requires the user agent Firefox , maybe you think foxes are sexy; or maybe, just maybe! You suffer of an irrational fear of weasels! I'm not judging!
But it's because of the reasons that I can't think of that this HowTo was born. Anyways, the only assumption I make here is that you have a working Internet Connection and that Iceweasel is not installed. Because of that pretty much all the code and explanations are aimed towards new users. Let's do it! Open a console and log in as root. Enter root 's password when asked: Code: Select all su. You can also download firefox from FTP repositories, unpack with file-roller and use together with iceweasel sharing the same.

Why does the built in update function of Firefox not work when it is installed in this manner? Re: Firefox updates. Post by lemoicavalier » mmorse wrote: OK, forgive the question. Our lives are mostly a constant evasion of ourselves. Post by jheaton5 » I'm not having any issues using iceweasel. Why do I want to download firefox? OK, it's that freedom thing. You can start the Profile Manager from Firefox or from the command line: firefox --no-remote -P. You may want to back up the profiles directory first, in case of an actual incompatibility.
Firefox makes a number of automated connections to Mozilla's and other's servers without explicitly asking the user for approval. Mozilla documents that list in the How to stop Firefox from making automatic connections page. Here is a table of the above parameters and how Debian diverges from the upstream default:. The table below may be out of date.
It was created on from the upstream page by looking at an empty profile on Firefox ESR Mozilla's documentation itself may be missing some parameters as well. TorBrowser - Firefox-based Web browser aimed at defending against tracking, surveillance, and censorship. Other plugins are no longer supported. Create a new firefox profile: firefox --no-remote -P or from the about:profiles page. Go through the general Sound troubleshooting steps. If this fails, reinstall alsa and pulseaudio:.
Instead, Debian shipped a free-software version rebranded by Debian, named Iceweasel. This fork was maintained because of a disagreement with Mozilla regarding backporting of the security fixes to DebianStable, and as the result could not use trademarked Mozilla artwork.
Starting from DebianStretch, the iceweasel package has been made a transitional package for firefox-esr. Normal Debian support policies, including patches for bug fixes, apply to the package. Iceweasel used to require gstreamer1. The Raspberry Pi boards support various Operating Systems along with different web browsers.
Recently, Google has shown its support to the Pi devices, and so I created a how-to guide to install chrome on Raspberry Pi. And today, I will provide a quick, step-by-step guide on how to install Firefox on Raspberry Pi. You may know that the Mozilla does not offer any direct link to download the latest Firefox version for the Raspberry Pi.
But you can easily download it on your Pi board with just a few steps. As we know that there is no direct Firefox version is available to download for Pi, the Debian project got the Iceweasel which is the rebranded named of Mozilla Firefox for Raspberry Pi.
